Chestnut Health Systems is a leading provider of behavioral and primary health care services. Chestnut Health Systems is seeking a part-time Medical Assistant to work at our Belleville, IL location, servicing the Metro East and St. Louis, MO areas.


  • Perform phlebotomy including venipuncture and capillary sampling
  • Provide support services for the integrated care program including answering phones, taking phone messages, requesting charts, pulling up electronic files, and requesting correspondence such as medical records, labs or other applicable items
  • Complete and record vital signs, including height, weight, pulse, blood pressure and temperature; immediately notifying nurse, prescriber or emergency personnel of any out of normal ranges, as needed
  • Collect non-blood specimens and perform point of care testing; recording and evaluating results, including nebulizer administration, carbon monoxide, glucometer readings, urine screening or other assigned testing
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of Medical Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant training program required and must obtain Medical Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant Certification within first year of hire.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, with a friendly, customer-service demeanor required.
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, staff and the public.
  • Computer experience required with experience in Microsoft Office products including, Outlook, Excel, and Word; and electronic medical records (EMR) and prescribing; and the ability to assist in a variety of common office procedures.
  • Satisfactory completion of Chestnut’s background checking process.
