Overview

We provide fully integrated care for all of our patients by combining behavioral health care services with our community-based primary care health centers. Chestnut also conducts research and training throughout the U.S.A, as well as provides employee assistance programs internationally.

 

Chestnut Health Systems is seeking a full-time Prevention Specialist at our Belleville, IL location, servicing the Metro East and St. Louis, MO areas.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement presentations and Youth Prevention Education curriculum for youth.
  • Plan and implement programs for adults.
  • Develop and distribute educational materials.
  • Participate in collaborations.
  • Coordinate activities and trainings.
  • Assist in developing, conducting, and analyzing needs assessments.
  • Conduct program evaluations.
  • Promote media campaigns. 
  • Travel to various schools and other locations within the site plan area for meetings, curriculum implementation, outreach, and other grant-related activities.
  • Prepare program documentation and reports.
  • Fulfill agency responsibilities related to staff development, agency meetings and committees and other responsibilities as designated by supervisor.
  • Maintain and protect confidentiality and security of all organizational information gained in the course of performing job responsibilities including, but not limited to, financial and client information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Position requires either a Bachelor’s degree in education or a behavioral health related field with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience; or a Master’s degree in a behavioral health related field with one (1) year experience.
  • Requires good organizational skills and verbal and written communication skills. Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) preferred. 
  • Requires knowledge of school and community based prevention, prevention theory and strategies, and substance abuse and related research.
  • Must have experience in public speaking and will include classroom presentations to middle school students in the service area. 
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, private automobile insurance and be insurable. Position requires ability to travel to schools and other locations in the site plan area. 
  • Must obtain DCFS CANTS Child Abuse Clearance.
  • Satisfactory completion of Chestnut's background checking process.
