    Chestnut Health Systems is seeking a full-time Central Access Representative to work Monday through Thursday from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and every Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  at our Bloomington, IL facility.


    • Answer incoming calls promptly, professionally and in a Recovery oriented manner, using trauma informed care principles for entry and scheduling of assigned mental health and substance use services; and all incoming phone calls and assigned outbound calls.
    • Screen clients in person and by telephone to obtain demographic information including, but not limited to; presenting problem, referral source, and basic 3rd party payer information using hard copy forms or by entering into the assigned EHR, required to complete registration.
    • Complete a clinical screening to generate billable services when appropriate and document appropriately and timely, according to established procedures, as assigned.
    • Complete appropriate scheduling, linkages and referrals based on the initial screening, identifying assigned service providers, and informing consumers of date, time, site phone number, person he/she is to meet with and location of initial or follow up appointment.
    • Access agency approved web-site(s) to verify Public Aid, Medicare, and Commercial Insurance coverage. Follow established procedures to indicate coverage in EHR and/or to financial staff.
    • Manage paper documents that must be scanned and attached to the EHR, according to established processes, in an accurate and timely manner.


    • Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED and be at least 21 years’ of age.
    • Excellent telephone skills required with the ability to handle a high volume of calls.
    • Position requires the ability to communicate effectively with employees, consumers and potential consumers, support systems, and other community contacts.
    • Must demonstrate effective problem solving skills with the ability to use sound judgment.
    • Experience working in the areas of admissions, scheduling or screening potential intakes for services preferred.
    • Must demonstrate the ability to respond and communicate effectively and calmly with conflict-related or emotional situations.
    • Good keyboarding skills required including preferred data entry experience into a variety of databases including an electronic health record (EHR) or electronic billing system.
    • General knowledge of standard office procedures and use of office equipment (i.e., filing, including electronic, basic word processing, and the ability to operate copier, fax, and scanning equipment) required.
    • Satisfactory completion of Chestnut’s background checking process.
