    Chestnut Health Systems is seeking a full-time, Medical Coder to work within our Chestnut Family Health Center at our Bloomington, IL facility.

    • Coordinate all clinic billing processes related to coding and documentation to ensure compliance.
    • Train, instruct, and/or provide technical support to medical providers and other coders as appropriate regarding coding compliance documentation, and regulatory provisions, and third party payer requirements.
    • Ensure documentation by providers conforms to legal and procedural requirements.
    • Interact with providers and management to review and/or implement codes and to update charge documents such as the master charge schedule.


    • Position requires a high school diploma or GED and completion of a Certified Professional Coder program.
    • Must have a Professional Coder Certification with at least two (2) years' of coding experience in a medical setting.
    • Must have detailed knowledge of medical coding systems (including ICD-10-CM and CPT) and associated documentation guidelines, knowledge of legal, regulatory, and policy compliance issues as they relate to medical coding, billing and documentation as well as knowledge of the medical billing process including UB04 and CMS-1500.
    • Must have critical thinking skills, excellent verbal and written communications skills, and be detailed oriented; able to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines and able to use independent judgment to manage and impart confidential information.
    • Requires advanced computer skills and experience to include MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat and an electronic medical record (EMR).
    • Satisfactory completion of Chestnut’s background checking process.
