Chestnut Health Systems is seeking a full-time First Episode Psychosis Project Representative for our Bloomington, IL facility. The First Episode Psychosis Project is a specialized treatment approach that helps individuals who are between the ages of 14-40 and who have had a treated or untreated psychotic illness for no more than 18 months. This program promotes early identification and provides best treatment practices as soon as possible.

  • Complete Intake assessments for FEPP Program referrals at inpatient psychiatric hospitals, crisis units or in agency office. 
  • Conduct outreach to increase referrals to the FEPP Program. 
  • Engage the client and family members/significant others into the FEPP Program. 
  • Provide active linkage to and promote utilization of communities of recovery and ancillary community resources and services, along with developing natural supports
  • Model, teach, and support acquisition and utilization of skills needed to facilitate individual recover and self-efficacy.
  • Assist individuals in identifying personal strengths and barriers to achieving treatment and recovery goals, including vocational, educational, and housing goals.
  • Provide transportation to community agencies and services, as needed.
  • In collaboration with supervisor, oversee the management and completion of objectives of the grant. 
  • Coordinate the efforts of the First Episode Psychosis Project (FEPP) Program staff and consultants as identified in the FEPP manual. 
  • Facilitate and coordinate overall FEPP team activities, including weekly FEPP team meetings (1 hour per week). 
  • Engage in regular consultation meetings with the FIRST Program consultant/trainer. 
  • Participate in monthly multi-disciplinary first episode psychosis learning collaborative.
  • Prepare program documentation and reports. 
  • Attend all required trainings and meetings associated with the grant. 
  • Fulfill agency responsibilities including staff development and other responsibilities as designated by supervisor. 
  • Promote Chestnut’s culture of customer service excellence through the adherence to Chestnut’s behavioral standards for customer service. 


  • Minimum of a bachelor’s Degree in counseling, social work, education, communications or related field with at least one (1) year experience in providing mental health service or mentoring at risk individuals.
  • Must obtain Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) certification within 2.5 years from date of hire.
  • Must have personal mental health recovery experience and a willingness to appropriately discuss his/her own recovery journey.
  • Requires good organizational skills and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have a comfort level with public speaking.
  • Requires basic computer skills and experience to include MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat and an electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Position requires ability to travel between various locations.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, private automobile insurance and be insurable.
  • Satisfactory completion of Chestnut’s background checking process.
