Overview

Chestnut Health Systems is seeking three full-time Community Health Specialists to present Prevention curriculum virtually to middle and high school students in Illinois.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate, implement and evaluate programs and trainings for youth and/or adults.
  • Plan and assist with grant and contract work plan development. Utilize best practices in all aspects of grant work.
  • Develop, conduct and analyze needs assessments and program evaluations.
  • Develop and implement educational or informational (i.e. newsletters, media campaigns) material based on current research and grant requirements.
  • Assume leadership role on projects as assigned by supervisor.
  • Submit or enter program documentation, reports, and agency paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Fulfill agency responsibilities including staff development, monitoring research, and participation in agency meetings and committees. Attend all funder-required trainings and meetings.
  • Promote the recovery model of treatment including trauma-informed care, hope, respect, empowerment, health/wellness and spirituality/connectedness in all interactions with others, including utilizing recovery language.
  • Maintain and protect confidentiality and security of all organizational information gained in the course of performing job responsibilities including, but not limited to, financial and client information.
  • Promote Chestnut’s culture of customer service excellence through the adherence to Chestnut’s behavioral standards for customer service.
  • Other responsibilities as designated by supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Position requires either a Bachelor’s degree in education, public health or a behavioral health related field with a minimum of two (2) years’ experience;
  • Or a Master’s degree in a behavioral health related field. 
  • Requires intermediate skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Zoom and online reporting systems. 
  • Must have experience in public speaking with organizational skills and verbal and written communication skills.  
  • Knowledge of community based prevention and community organizing, prevention theory and strategies, and substance abuse and related research is preferred. 
  • Understanding of learning styles and curriculum development is helpful. 
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, private automobile insurance and be insurable. 
  • Position requires ability to travel to schools and other locations in the site plan area and home internet connection. 
  • Must be able to obtain DCFS CANTS Child Abuse Clearance.
  • Satisfactory completion of Chestnut’s background checking process.
