Overview

The Intake Specialist plays a critical role in welcoming and supporting individuals seeking admission to Chestnut’s Adult Residential programs. This position conducts screenings, completes intake documentation, and assists clients through admission, treatment, and discharge processes using a recovery-oriented and trauma-informed approach. The Intake Specialist serves as an essential point of contact for clients, referral sources, and community partners, ensuring timely, accurate, and compassionate service delivery. This position will work every Saturday and Sunday from 7:00am to 7:00pm at our Maryville, IL location. Evening, overnight, and weekend shifts are eligible for a shift differential.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct client screenings in person, by phone, or via video to obtain demographic, clinical, referral, and payer information and enter data accurately into TIER
  • Respond promptly, professionally, and compassionately to all callers seeking admission, ensuring a supportive, recovery-oriented experience
  • Complete assigned intake documentation to support timely admissions, billing, and compliance requirements
  • Assist with resident admissions and discharges, including inventorying and securing belongings and supporting client transitions
  • Support daily Adult Residential program operations to ensure continuity of care and adherence to program schedules
  • Complete progress notes and required documentation within established timeframes
  • Provide referral, linkage, and advocacy to community resources, with an emphasis on natural supports, connectedness, and discharge planning
  • Support safe and accurate self-administration of medications and complete Medication Administration Record (MAR) entries in real time
  • Deliver services identified in IM-CANS and safety plans that are consumer-driven and meet program service expectations
  • Promote positive and professional interactions with clients, referral sources, support systems, and community partners
  • Model and promote recovery-oriented and trauma-informed care principles, including hope, respect, empowerment, wellness, and self-directed recovery
  • Attend required meetings, supervision, trainings, and CEU activities, including Rule 132 or SUPR supervision as applicable
  • Adhere to Chestnut’s behavioral standards for customer service excellence
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of all organizational, financial, and consumer information
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support program and agency goals

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent with five (5) years of supervised mental health experience OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in counseling, social work, education, psychology, or a related human service field OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in another field with two (2) years of supervised clinical experience in a mental health setting OR
  • Certificate of Psychiatric Rehabilitation from a DHS-approved program with a high school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of mental health experience OR
  • Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) or Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS), in good standing with the State of Illinois
  • Valid driver’s license, private automobile insurance, and insurability
  • Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, email, and electronic medical record (EMR) systems

The anticipated starting pay for new hires for this position is between $19.00 - $20.00 an hour. There are several factors taken into consideration in determining base pay, including but not limited to: job-related qualifications, skills, education, experience, local market conditions, and internal equity.
