Overview

Join Chestnut Health Systems as a Community Health Specialist, based in Granite City with travel throughout the Metro East area. In this impactful role, you'll spearhead community education services for youth and families affected by substance use. As a dedicated professional in behavioral health, or education-related fields, you'll play a vital part in developing, coordinating,implementing, faciliataing and evaluating programs, focusing on supporting youth impacted by parental/family substance use. Your responsibilities extend to budget management, outreach, needs assessments, media campaigns, and leadership in local, state, and national advocacy groups. Upholding the recovery model of treatment and ensuring confidentiality, you'll contribute to our mission of providing exceptional care and support.

Responsibilities

As a key contributor to our mission, you will leverage your expertise in behavioral health, or education-related fields. Your role involves developing, coordinating, implementing, facilitating and evaluating programs, focusing on supporting youth impacted by parental/family substance use. You will coordinate partnerships with schools, community groups and agencies, manage program budgets, conduct outreach services, and spearhead needs assessments and program evaluations. Engaging in media campaigns, identifying funding opportunities, and leading mentoring and training efforts are integral aspects of this role. Active participation in local, state, and national advocacy groups/collaborations, fulfilling agency and funder responsibilities, and upholding the recovery model of treatment are key responsibilities. Your commitment to maintaining confidentiality, promoting customer service excellence, and performing other assigned duties is crucial to our shared success.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in behavioral health, or education-related field and a minimum of 2 years related experience; or
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field with a minimum of 5 years of related professional experience; or
  • Associates degree in a related field with a minimum of 10 years of related professional experience.
  • Knowledge of prevention theory, research, program development, needs assessment, and evaluation and community capacity building is required.
  • Experience in grant writing and budgeting (preferred).
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Zoom, and online reporting systems.
  • Valid driver's license, private automobile insurance, insurability, and a home internet connection.
  • Ability to travel to schools and other locations in the site plan area.
  • Must be able to obtain DCFS CANTS Child Abuse Clearance.
