Overview

Work with riders in an innovative project among Chestnut Health Systems, Bi-State Transit, and St. Clair County Transit District. This is a full-time, team-oriented position in a non-clinical setting and may be based in St. Louis or St. Clair County, IL. Shifts will be scheduled between the hours of 6:00am and 9:00pm.

Responsibilities

Work on a MetroLink train or transfer station in Illinois or Missouri. Collaborate with MetroLink Ambassadors, Metro Transit Security, and local law enforcement. Engage riders in dialogue. Screen riders for needed services. Develop therapeutic alliances. Provide crisis assessments, counseling, and intervention. Provide situational problem solving and skill development. Transport riders to services as needed.

 

Position centers around interactions with individuals with untreated physical, mental, and substance use issues in a non-clinical setting. Must be able to work alongside a partner for the majority of work hours. Must provide even-tempered responses to potentially volatile situations.

 

Promote the recovery model of treatment including trauma-informed care, hope, respect, empowerment, health/wellness, and spirituality/connectedness.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent and five years’ personal recovery; or peer recovery, Crisis Intervention Training (CIT), policing, mental health, substance use, or other social service experience; or a bachelor’s degree; or a total of 5 years’ experience and college combined; or a Certified Peer Specialist (CPS), Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS), or Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) in good standing. Preferred: experience in and crisis intervention. Valid drivers’ license, private auto insurance, and be insurable. Basic computer skills including MS Office and an electronic medical record.
