Overview

Chestnut Health Systems is seeking a skilled and compassionate Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) to provide integrated medication and behavioral health services across our programs. This role supports both youth and adults and works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver trauma-informed, recovery-oriented care. The APRN may provide services in person and via telehealth and must be willing to work across multiple locations as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation for each patient, including evaluations, diagnoses, medication reconciliation, follow-ups, and progress notes, in accordance with agency and program policies.
  • Provide prescriber services in compliance with the Nurse Practitioner Collaborative Agreement, applicable Illinois and/or Missouri regulations, and Chestnut policies and procedures.
  • Deliver medication management services for assigned populations, including psychiatric services and Medications for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD), for both youth and adults.
  • Offer in-person and telehealth services as assigned, considering patient preferences when clinically appropriate.
  • Collaborate closely with an assigned physician when recommending and managing controlled substances.
  • Supervise assigned Medication Assistants (MA) or Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA), including hiring, training, evaluating performance, and delegating tasks in accordance with the Nursing Practice Act.
  • Model and reinforce evidence-based practices, including recovery-oriented care, trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and the principles of hope, respect, empowerment, wellness, and connectedness.
  • Maintain positive and professional relationships within Chestnut and with community partners to support quality care and a positive work environment.
  • Participate as an active member of the treatment team by attending meetings, patient staffing, training, and program development activities, utilizing Relias when available.
  • Serve as a preceptor when assigned and assist with coverage for other Chestnut prescribers as needed to ensure continuity of care.
  • Demonstrate Chestnut’s commitment to customer service excellence by following organizational behavioral standards.
  • Protect the confidentiality and security of all patient and organizational information at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or negotiated with the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (R.N.) with a master’s degree in nursing.
  • Licensed as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the state of Missouri; dual Illinois licensure preferred.
  • License in good standing with the ability to bill for evaluating and prescribing medications.
  • Fully executed Collaborative Agreement with a Chestnut-approved prescriber required.
  • Previous prescribing experience preferred.
  • Psychiatric certification and experience prescribing psychiatric medications preferred when assigned to psychiatric services.
  • Experience prescribing Medications for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) preferred.
  • Moderate computer skills required, including email, videoconferencing for telehealth and meetings, medication registries, and electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
  • Must be willing to work at multiple sites.

The anticipated starting pay for new hires for this position is between $96,250 - $110,000 annual salary.
