Overview

The Crisis Intervention Engagement Technician provides community-based outreach, engagement, and crisis intervention services for individuals experiencing untreated mental health, substance use, or co-occurring challenges. This position works closely with individuals in non-clinical settings, supporting stabilization, safety planning, and connection to appropriate services. The role is scheduled Sunday–Thursday, 3:00 PM–11:30 PM, and requires collaboration with another staff member for most shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Provide community-based crisis intervention, outreach, engagement, and stabilization services, including safety planning and linkage to mental health and/or substance use treatment.
  • Promote the recovery model of care by utilizing trauma-informed practices that emphasize hope, empowerment, wellness, respect, and self-directed recovery.
  • Complete all required documentation and data entry in accordance with program, funder, and agency requirements, including treatment/recovery/safety plans and progress notes.
  • Maintain timely and accurate records, ensuring treatment/recovery/safety plans are completed onsite and documentation is submitted within required timeframes.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with consumers, natural supports, hospitals, jails, emergency medical services, and community partners.
  • Attend required supervision, staff meetings, trainings, and program development activities, including CRSS training and Chestnut-mandated education.
  • Promote Chestnut’s culture of customer service excellence by adhering to organizational behavioral standards.
  • Protect the confidentiality of all consumer and organizational information.
  • Provide backup support to team members and complete other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum age of 21 with a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience or skills in human services and working with adults.
  • Personal recovery experience and willingness to appropriately share lived recovery journey.
  • Ability to obtain Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) credential within one year of hire.
  • Preferred background in social services, teaching, corrections/policing, patient care, or lived recovery/work experience.
  • Ability to remain calm and even-tempered in potentially volatile situations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with consumers, staff, and community partners.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including MS Word, email, and electronic medical records (EMR).
  • Valid driver’s license, private automobile insurance, and insurability.

The anticipated starting pay for new hires for this position is between $17.00 - $18.00 an hour. There are several factors taken into consideration in determining base pay, including but not limited to: job-related qualifications, skills, education, experience, local market conditions, and internal equity.
